It's baby time again! It's so much fun to watch all these babies grow up. Lily is 6 months old, sitting up all by herself and is really starting to show her personaility. This session was perfect timing too...we were able to capture some C-U-T-E shots of Lily with some pearls just in time for Valentines Day.

Seriously cannot say enough about how romantic this wedding was. These two are amazing and we had so much fun capturing them from the engagement session, to the rehearsal to saying Happy New Year after their amazing outdoor candle light ceremony. There was so much detail, care and thought put into this wedding and it shows. And ooooooohhh do we love First Looks. They are all amazing but this is definitely at the top of the list for best yet. To top it all off...what a great way to enter into the New Year and being surrounded with so much love just added to the experience. Everything was perfect. Yep. Perfect. Congratulations Megan and Eric. We are so grateful to call you friends!

Megan and Eric's Rehearsal {St Petersburg Wedding Photographer}

We absolutely love being a part of the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. We get some key insight as to what is going happen the day of, plus we get a chance to meet family and friends. We could not have felt any more welcomed and loved as we did from these families. It was amazing to watch everybody have a fun time with each other and to feel the love everyone has for Megan and Eric. Starting at the Renassiance Vinoy in the Tea Garden for the ceremony rehearsal, everything went so smoothly thanks to Barbara with Artistry Designs. Then everybody loaded onto the Yacht Starship to start celebrating the night away. There were many special moments highlighted throughout the evening, special performances and leis given as gifts to all the guests, Eric's Mom and Aunt had a very special poem that they shared with everyone that truly sums up the love shared that night:

My darling my precious flower
Desire has come to me
To wear your love as a lei
A circle of life with no end
For love is the greatest of all things
Like flowers strung together
Never alone, forever united
Let our marriage be everlasting
There is but one flower I will wear as a lei
It is you, my love, beyond compare

Thank you...these words are so small in comparison to the gratefulness I feel for being welcomed by your families that day. Thank you for letting us be such a big part of your lives. I cannot wait to share your wedding images with you, but until then, here's a quick look at this special night.

We met Mallory and Roberto at a bridal showcase late last year and while chatting with them about their vision, I knew right away we wanted to be a part of their big day. Not only could we see the love between these two, but we talked like we've known each other for years. I just love it when that happens. It truly has been a pleasure to be there during the wedding planning process and watching it all come together. Mallory and her mom did an amazing job on planning a very elegant, sophisticated wedding while keeping Mallory and Roberto's simplicity shining through. Charleen and Covington contacted us 5 months before their destination wedding here to Tampa, FL. After chatting with them more about their big day, they had a lot of concerns about us booking another client on their wedding day. We are always asked, what happens if someone inquires about our date and we haven't paid our retainer yet?, but I felt that there was something else on their mind. Turns out they had another photographer that they wanted to hire and last minute that photographer booked another client without communicating with them. I was STUNNED! We hate to hear stories like this and were so glad when Charleen and Covington signed on with us after reassuring them this is not our policy. Charleen and Covington live in Texas, so we scheduled their engagement session (scroll down to see that sneak!) days before the wedding. It was great getting to know these two and how much fun they are. Their wedding day was amazing and their families so warm and kind. Thank you both for being fabulous!

Exactly one year ago today, I had the pleasure of capturing the day Rick, Kristen and Hope became a family. They traveled back to Florida, to stay at the Sirata where the wedding was last year for a family vacation. Kim Norbut contacted us a couple weeks ago, letting us know that even though the majority of their family vacation would be in Orlando, they would be visiting Clearwater Beach for 2 days and was hoping to get some family pictures done. Talk about a small world...Kristi and Nathan are both attorney's for the State Attorney's Office in Clearwater....which is where I used to work as a secretary before pursuing photography full time! We met Lauren and Peter at a wedding we captured last March for some close friends of theirs. I'll admit, I noticed they were engaged and secretly hoped they would call me...so I was so happy to hear from her shortly after Aly and Eric's wedding! I was even happier when she told me where the wedding would be taking place...Hawk's Cay Resort in the Florida Keys. Can we say yes please?!?!?!?! Originally, my husband and I were planning on spending the entire weekend at the resort, however, once we discovered our son would be arriving about 6 weeks before the wedding, we decided that it would be best for Daddy and son have a guys weekend at home. It was hard to leave my sweet little man (oh yeah, my husband too), but I tell you, I'm so pleased to have been there for Lauren and Peter as they finally exchanged vows after 10 years, next to one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen. For those of you who follow my blog, you know it's all about our Brides and Grooms...but this post is very unique and special. On April 14th, my husband and I welcomed into this world our first born son, Nicholas. So, here's a quick, abbreviated of how it all went down:

As most of you know...April 14th was NOT my due date...in fact, it's 10 days before my due date. This day, Jason and I headed to the doctor for our regular weekly check up on baby. I had a great pregnancy, and didn't have any complications. At the beginning of each appointment, they check your weight (not going there...) and blood pressure. My blood pressure was elevated some, not to have the doctors concerned, but it did raise an eye brow or two, especially since I was swollen all over. So, to take extra precaution they sent us over to the hospital for further monitoring, fully expecting to send us home a few hours later. We even scheduled an induction for the following week. So, we head on over and sitting there for a few hours monitor the baby and my blood pressure. Everything looked great and the big debate was where we would stop for dinner on the way home. Last minute, the doctors decide to do an ultrasound, just to be sure. So, the ultrasound tech came and did her monitoring for 30 minutes. Next thing we know, my doctor comes into the room and starts to explain the results of the ultrasound. Let's just say, no good. The baby didn't move so they weren't able to check for certain things, and my placenta was reading old. Since I was not favorable AT ALL for induction, they recommended a c-section. Shocked, Jason and I looked at each other, and after discussing the matter further with the doctor said okay...baby tomorrow then. The doctor just smiled and said, no...I'm here now, you're having a baby tonight. Yeah....it happened just like that. In less than an hour, Baby Romano arrived. Everything happened so quickly and it's still a little all surreal, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Thankfully, we had amazing support near and far and have incredible images that captured the entire event. So...you all know me...I just had to make a video from expecting to Nick's first official photo session done by Kenzie Shores Photography. Please join us in welcoming our son...

Becoming a Family

I was approached by Christie Winsor with Winsor Event Studios late last year asking if I would be interested in capturing a wedding with her for April 2nd, knowing the wedding date was very close to my due date. I told her that I would love to! I was able to meet with Shannon, Marc and Christie at the end of January, and by the time they left my office, I was very excited to work with them. Of course, they were concerned about me being 37 weeks pregnant by the time the wedding date would arrive, and I assured them that we would have extra coverage for their day, should I not be able to attend. (A HUGE shout out to Kenzie Shores Photography for helping us!) So, as the wedding day approached, my assistant, Martin, and I headed down to Lido Beach to meet up with Shannon, Marc and adorable Eden to capture their family/engagement session. Then come that same Saturday, Martin, myself and Kenzie all headed back for the wedding, and what a beautiful day it was for this family to come together as one. Ever heard of a "non-wedding wedding"? Neither had I until I met Dede and Jason last August. They came to us, very excited about their wedding this Spring, but kept referring to it as a "non-wedding wedding". They explained that it would be small, with an intimate outdoor ceremony and a dinner for their closest family and friends. I just love small weddings...they are intimate, full of love and emotion, and I'm honored that they asked me to be a part of it. Dede and Jason had a basic idea of how they wanted everything to look and with the help of amazing local vendors, their vision came to life. Starting with some getting ready/detail shots, a First Look, ceremony, family portraits, a toast to their special guests before a grand meal, then cutting the cake as husband and wife, I would say this was an amazing wedding celebration for Dede and Jason. We had the pleasure of running, jumping and skipping around on St Pete Beach with the Strasser and Flanigan families last week as they finished up their vacation. With both families having both 5 and 6 year old boys, we wanted to ensure they had a blast during a photo shoot. By all the smiles and laughter I say, mission accomplished! It really was a pleasure to work with these families and I will say that I saw what's comin if we have a boy in the next few weeks...and I can't wait! I can only hope that my husband and I have this much fun!

These two are AMAZING! I've known Jeni for well over 10 years and I cannot begin to tell you how honored I am to capture her big day this November. Heading out for their engagement session, Jeni warned me that Kyle is not big on having his photo taken. I reassured her that we would have a blast and it wouldn't seem like a "photo session". As I mentioned before, these two are amazing! They had a blast together, just hanging out, playing and having fun. It was non-stop laughter the entire time. Talk about a FANTASTIC way to kick off the Spring Wedding Season 2011! Wait...didn't I already say that for Lauren and Maris' teaser last week? Well, sorry, I just can't help it. Lauren and Maris have been an incredible couple to work with for their big day. We feel so much a part of this family having captured Lauren's brother's wedding last Spring, when we walked through the doors, the same wonderful open arms of the family were opened again. The new Mr and Mrs took so much time into their planning, adding so much detail and allowing us to have a ton of time to capture them both between the ceremony and reception. (A photographers dream) We started at the Church, then headed over to Strabb Park, Vinoy Park, Snell Island and finished up around the grounds (inside and out) at their reception location. We started over at UT to get some shots of just them, as we planned to go to the Florida State Fair to get some fun shots and knew it would be crowded! These guys are just amazing together....so playful, fun and soooo loving! I just love it when a man is tender with the woman he loves. These two will tie the knot at the Vinoy on New Year's Eve and after talking about their vision, it's going to be an amazing wedding. Okay...so can we just not call engagement sessions, engagements sessions anymore? This year we have had so many incredible "get to know you" sessions with fantastic couples that "engagement session" sounds....so....boreing. Picking great locations is always important when scheduling these sessions, and picking some where that represents who you are as a couple makes it even better. Let me introduce to you, Rachel and Gabe. These two are by far the most fun, energetic, fun, spunky, fun couples I know. Did I mention they are a blast to be around? They have so much fun together, it reminds you of when you were a little kid and had no care in the world. What kind of fun you ask? How about pillow fights? Patty cake? (Yes, I said patty cake) Not to mention...wrestling and jumping up and down on the bed and piggy back rides? These are all things we (at least I did) loved to do as kids, but do we ever think to have this kind of fun now? Especially on a photo session? Well, WHY NOT? This is the result and personally, I could watch this video over and over and over....

Mallory, Roberto and Sadie too!

We had the pleasure of meeting Mallory and Roberto at the Sophisticated Bridal Showcase earlier this year. While chatting with them about their wedding details, we became more and more excited for them with what they had planned so far! When they came in to book with us, we started talking about their engagement session and discussing what they did and didn't want. Mallory mentioned, we are not the kind of people that stand around in alley ways and don't want our pictures taken that way. We want something that represents us, and who we are as a couple. So, I asked, well...what do you guys like to do for fun? Their response....go to Game Works. PERFECT! Again, I was really excited for our engagement session...wait...do we even have to call them that anymore? Recently my couples have come up with out of the box, fantastic ideas that "engagement session" sounds so boring. So, that was the beginning of our ideas. They also wanted to get a few pics with their adorable, energetic puggle, Sadie. So, I suggested we start with Sadie somewhere that is dog friendly then work our way to Game Works. Bringing Sadie to a new location wasn't the only thing that had her so excited...we brought a long a doggie bagel as a special treat for her and she loved it! Did it help her sit still for some pics? No, but that's okay, she was too cute no matter what! So, here it is...Mallory, Roberto and Sadie's "get to know you" session!

Lynn and Anthony - November 27, 2010

Lynn and Anthony tied the knot at the beautiful Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in downtown Tampa. This was our first time capturing a wedding at this venue and it was amazing! Lynn and Anthony have been fantastic to work with. We did their engagement session a couple months ago at UT and Davis Island Marina and it was wonderful hanging out and talking details about their big day. It definitely got us excited! Lynn, being an event planner, took so much time and effort into making their wedding day perfect and everything looked amazing. From the little details like the broach on her flowers (stunning!) to the big, beautiful chandeliers in the ceremony tent, everything had it's place. The weather held out perfectly as we took pictures into the night around the Center then joined their family and friends for their rockin reception. Anthony's son was the hit of the night with his crazy, energetic dance moves that kept everyone parting all night long.

Lacey and Chris are getting married!

Lacey contacted me a couple of weeks before their engagement session and told me she wanted something different. She's seen a lot of engagement photos and all the locations look the same. She knew she did want to end the session at a beach, but wanted something really unique to go along with the opportunity to do so. I told her I would do some scouting and see what I could come up with. Going off of many ideas, driving around, none of them were panning out. Until....I came across this field. PERFECT! You would never think this location is where it is and when I ran the idea by Lacey, she loved it. This is definitely one of my new places to shoot! We had a blast during their session and since Chris is military and had to leave soon to go back to where he is currently stationed, I ensured I completed these images early enough that they could stop by and enjoy seeing them together. They loved how the "secret location" turned out. It was everything Lacey hoped it would she would have with her engagement images. Man, do I love my job!

Rachel and Nick Zysk

We had one of the most amazing experiences on Saturday, November 13, 2010. We were able to join the close family and friends of Rachel and Nick to finally, after over a year, celebrate their marriage. Rachel and Nick were married on July 4, 2009, having to change their wedding plans to accommodate Nick's deployment to serve our country. After a long wait, and the arrival of their beautiful daughter, Nick returned safely to his family and was able to meet his daughter for the first time. To celebrate their marriage and Nick's return, they planned the reception for their family and friends that they were not able to have in 2009. We were and still are beyond honored to be there to capture all the hugs, kisses, laughs and tears. And yes, there were many tears, many of which were mine as I attempted to stay behind the camera as much as I could to hide them all. As a special surprise for Nick, Rachel had their videographer put together a 13 minute video of Nick being overseas, the birth of their daughter, Nick's homecoming and life after with his family. Yeah...now maybe you believe me when I say there were many tears...I can't imagine there was a dry eye in that building.

Nikole and Curt's Engagement Session

I had the pleasure of meeting Nikole and Curt at another wedding we captured earlier this year, and when they came in to sign on with us for their wedding, we were very excited! A couple weeks ago, Nikole, Curt and I ventured out to downtown Tampa, where we were hoping a certain fountain would be up and running to start our session. Unfortunately, the fountains weren't on, but that wasn't going to stop us from getting some great images in the location anyways. We found some great little nooks and crannies for some amazing images. Including some cute little tables and chairs where Nikole and Curt pulled up a seat and enjoyed a glass of wine and shared some great moments together. Then, to be sure we could get some sunset shots, we headed back to their home and found even more nooks and crannies to get some more great shots while waiting for the sun to set. We are very much looking forward to their wedding next summer and hope you enjoy their sneak in the meantime!

Katelynn and Erik Tonkin, October 23, 2010

Katelynn is a local wedding planner with Occasions Wedding and Events and I had the honor and pleasure of capturing her wedding day in Ft. Myers. Having their ceremony at Katelynn's parents house, their backyard was the perfect setting for their countryside theme. These two decided to do a first look, and you know how much we love these. We were able to get many great images of Katelynn and Erik and were also able to get all of the family portraits done too. Including, Aunts, Uncles and cousins!!! After their beautiful ceremony, all of the guests went to celebrate the night away right on the water and I was able to sneak Katelynn and Erik out to the docks for some fantastic sunset images. A huge Thank You to Jamie Billig with Confetti Events and her staff for helping make this wedding picture perfect. There was so much thought put into all the details, from a different set of china for each dinner table, to the ice cream stand Erik built with his own hands. Like I said, this was a fantastic wedding and thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of it.

Edna and Rafael Perez - One Year Later

Last year I was told about Edna and Rafael's destination beach wedding where their photographer refused to go out onto the sand to take any images with these two because "she didn't want to get her shoes sandy". I was completely disgusted. So disgusted that I contacted Edna to see if she would be willing to get in her dress again, and Rafael in his suit for me to take them back to the sand and get the shots their photographer refused to do. She accepted my offer, however, we couldn't work out a time before they left for their honeymoon. I told her to keep in touch and that the next time they were in town we would schedule the session. One year later, they come back for their anniversary and we scheduled the session. We walked around the beach and hotel grounds, and even played in the street a little to get them some great images. Not only were they willing to get all dressed back up, but Edna even had the same hair and make up artist come out and doll her up. Can I say this session was fabulous? These two were fantastic and I'm so blessed to be able to do this for them.

They are some of the funniest people I have ever met and each time we get together I know it's going to be a great time. For those who follow me on facebook, the day after their wedding, I made a post commenting that their first look experience has topped any other, which is hard to do. I have never seen so much love pour out of a groom (literally) when he sees his bride for the first time. Truly amazing.
